Haihoutes, Kos 2011

The aim of the project is to convert Haihoutes in an ecovillage where the people live in harmony with nature and each other.  To achieve this goal permaculture principles, ecological building, green production, alternative energy, community building practices are integrated to the project. The village is aimed to be an educational center and a meeting point for the people interested in permaculture and sustainable living.

The village will be developed in phases in order to be self sufficient since the beginning. In the first phase the buildings near the church will be restored and used as a meeting point. Other ruins will be conserved with simple techniques avoid the complete demolition. In the second phase the activity of restoration is focused around the square. The buildings restored will be used as coffee shop, shops and ateliers. In the third phase the basic facilities in the village, such as water management system are established. İn the forth phase the village is set up.
